Get a job and they will start sending you pre-approved cc apps eventually. If you dont want to wait you can always take out a bank loan and pay it back in a month (rinse repeat). This will build up some credit.

i have the same problem i had a $600 weekly pay check and no credit here is what i did
1. apply for a small (co signed) loan $500-$1000 ish weather you need it or not, preferably a short term loan
2.pay it off when the bill arrives do not make double payments or pay ahead. (the reason is that the longer the time of pay return the better your credit is)
3. wait a few weeks after it is paid off and try to get a $500 credit line credit card if possible from the bank of which the loan was taken (credit unions are easier to get these from)
4.if still denied use a pre paid credit card for a few months then repeat step 3 it may take a while but if you need credit you have to start somewhere

I wouldn't get a credit card if you already have little credit. if you go over the balance of your credit card and are nto working to make payments you will be in debt for life... just don't get one.

Stay away from Capital One anyways. They still call about my mom and my mom has been dead for two years. I've had good luck with Discover. After you use it so much, you can get stuff back. They also have an online payment system which is extremely convenient.

This is one of the most common questions on this board.
How do I build/establish credit?
First off you need to be educated about how credit works in the U.S. Every credit decision a lender makes is driven by FICO credit scores. You can go to www.myfico.com and look in the Credit Education section to learn how FICO credit scores are determined. To build your credit you have to place positive credit items on your file that will report positively for 6-12 months minimum. If you want your credit to be in the Excellent category (FICO score 720+) then your goal should be to have 3-6 revolving accounts(dept. store, gas cards, Visa. etc.) and 1-2 installment loans(car, mortgage) that are reporting positively.
I would start out with a Bank of America or Wells Fargo secured Visa card. Both banks have great programs with low annual fees, low starting amounts ($300.00) and no junk fees. After 12 months of positive on time payments you will graduate to an unsecured status. Then you will probably be approved for other cards such as dept. store and gas cards.
P.S. Stay away from crap like entrustsystems.com. It is a major ripoff and DOES NOT HELP your credit. Also, most "pre paid" debit cards are a rip off for the consumer. Just get a checking account with a VISA debit card.
Good Luck

If you are very responsible and your parents have good credit, you might ask your parents to put you on one of their credit cards. You can establish credit just by them using their credit card normally. Since you are on the account it will appear on your credit report.

As long as you can get by without credit, you are better. Don't use it except to buy a house, and even then if you don't have to, don't.
You can start by getting a loan from a starter loan company. They will charge you a high interest rate, but if you pay it off early, they will reduce or eliminate interest. They will explain all this to you when you get the loan. You can use things like a car, stereos, tv's etc as collateral.
What you do is, save up about $1500. Get a loan for $1200. pay the normal payment for about six months, then pay it off. Don't use your $1500 for anything and don't use the loan money for anything. Just pay it back. The reason I say to save the money up is that number one, that money grows interst in savings. Number two, you will be incurring finance charges evertime you get a loan. After you pay off a loan at the end of the six months, get another one. After you pay off your first one, you will have enough credit for a credit card. But, this time, get two loans for $1200 and do the same thing. You will need to get them on the same day, from two different companies. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DON"T SPEND THE MONEY...NO MATTER HOW TEMPTING. It's not really you're money. You really should only use the credit to buy a house. Using a credit card is using money you don't have. I know it's tough in college, cause you can't work as much and all your money goes to school, so how do you eat sometimes? What happens though is you use your credit card, and before you know it, your interest adds up and you can't afford to pay the minimum payment. I promise it's better to scrape everything you can together. Ask for help from family, friends, whatever. Be an entrepeneur!!
