I am the victim of an unusual credit card fraud?

credit card fraud protection

Last weekend I had a party while my parents were away. It appears someone has gone on my p.c and logged into my online poker account. The culprit has then made a rather large deposit, (£750) using my mums visa card. Would we have any protection against this? or because the online poker account is is my name is it my responsability? The poker client had remember password ticked so the culprit could just auto login. Please help.

Have your mom call the online gaming place and tell them she did NOT authorize that transaction, and that someone else used her card fraudulently. And call the credit card company and tell them the same thing. Maybe they’ll do something, maybe they won’t. Technically, if you didn’t authorize the transaction, they’re not supposed to hold you accountable for it. Since the card is in your mom’s name and not yours, there might be a chance she can get her money back, but I doubt they’re going to believe your ‘remember password box’ story. I don’t.

If after several weeks none of that works, invite your mom up for some online poker and try to win the money back.

Besides, isn’t there a way for you to “cash out” of those things? How else do you collect your winnings????
