Be very careful if you get the revolving credit cards as suggested by the personal banker. They charge outrageously high interest rates - 18 - 21 percent if you ever don't pay the balance in full.

Hello, I am 23 and got into about $3500.00 of credit card debt (which took my score way down)..I then got a loan at the bank, paid them all off...and my score shot up in no time...lol BUT this is not how you need to do this.
They CAN close these if they wish....but..to help your credit score when things get back on track...do the following
You can do a few things...get a credit card to a store with a small credit limit (old navy,jc penny etc these cards have 0 percent intrest) what I do, is even though I have cash in my checking acct for pay for my items, use my credit card...and send a payment out of my checking account. This is called revolving credit, and helps your FICA or credit score.
You can also, go to your bank and get a small loan (maybe $1000) deposit the check, and pay it back monthly,be sure to pay on time...or ahead of time.....at the end of the loan, you may have spent 100.00 or more in the percentage rate, but it could save you 100's each month when it comes time to get a car or house....when you go to the bank, you can tell them what your wanting to do, and they may help with this.
Also, a FYI changing jobs slightly affects your credit score....that is why ALL credit apps ask how long you have been at your job occupation for...
I do not advise gettin a visa, discover, chase, capital one card though.
Like I say, they can close it if they want...and there isnt alot you can do...your a high risk to the bank sweety and we dont like charged off accts
Good luck hon...

The closed credit card don't help your credit history. But, credit cards are one of many factors which affect your credit history, such as: repayment of college loans, mortgage, auto loans and etc.. You can request a credit report for free to look at your credit history and credit score. The federal law allows you to request a credit report from each of the three big credit agencies, TransUnion, Equifax and Experian. The link is: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i…
Your credit score should tell you roughly were you stand. The higher the score the better.
